The Jersey Meteorological Department provides daily forecasts for the Channel Islands to a wide range of customers, including those involved with aviation, shipping, agriculture, legal, construction, the media and of course to the general public through our 5 Day Forecast“Weather To Go!” services.  

 Working closely with the UK Meteorological Office, using the latest equipment and systems, enables instantaneous up to date weather information to be available any time.

Playing a vital role in ensuring the safety of aircraft operations across the Channel with the Weather Radar based at La Moye providing continual surveillance for thunderstorms, squalls and other severe weather in the area.

Responsible for the observing programme at the Maison St. Louis Observatory, where records go back to 1894, and Sunshine Recording at both Fort Regent, the official sunshine station for Jersey and Mont Orgueil.

As well as observing and forecasting, we compile the weather statistics and climatological data for Jersey, available in our annual report, and take a keen interest in monitoring the effects of global warming and climate change.
